Files Module Separate one-time add-ons for AppLockr

Choose the right protection for private folders.

The Files Module requires AppLockr and adds two distinct ways to protect folders: encrypted Secure Vaults or lighter Finder Shield deterrence.

Encrypted storage

Secure Vaults

Secure Vaults move a folder into password-protected encrypted storage. The vault is mounted only after you unlock it, so its contents are not available in Finder while it is locked.

  • Choose this when encryption is the requirement.
  • Best for content you are comfortable moving into a dedicated vault.
  • Unlock the vault when you need the files, then lock it again when you are done.
Finder-level deterrence

Finder Shield

Finder Shield leaves a folder where it already is and adds a lighter deterrent in Finder. It is useful when keeping the familiar folder path matters, but it is not encryption.

  • Choose this for casual-access deterrence without moving the folder.
  • Keep your existing folder structure and references intact.
  • Use Secure Vaults instead when you need encrypted storage.
Make the choice once

One folder, one protection method.

Pick Secure Vaults for password-protected encrypted storage, or Finder Shield when a folder should remain in place with a lighter Finder-level deterrent. A folder should use only one protection method.

Consider the folder

Decide whether the contents require encryption or whether a convenient Finder-level barrier is enough.

Choose the method

Use Secure Vaults for encrypted storage. Use Finder Shield to keep the existing folder location.

Keep it clear

Do not layer both methods on the same folder. A single method keeps its behavior predictable.

Recovery stays with your data

Recovery of existing vault data remains available even without the Files Module. Purchasing controls the active protection features, not access to your data.

Add file protection when you need it.

Choose encrypted Secure Vaults or Finder Shield without changing what the base AppLockr license is for.
